This is the case involving Kirstin Blaise Lobato and the murder of Duran Bailey.

Duran Bailey, a 44 year old black man, was found dead behind a dumpster at 10 p.m. in Las Vegas, on July 8, 2001. He was recently homeless. He had been badly beaten, and his body had been mutilated. (Smith, 2015)

Police Detective Thomas Thowsen and his partner, James LaRochelle were assigned the case. They arrived at the scene at 1AM and left some time later as the scene continued to be processed. Following a phone call on July 20 a 17 year old girl, Kirstin Blaise Lobato, was arrested in connection to the murder. (Smith, 2015)
